Cotton means it soaks up sweat on long efforts, and the delicate holed fabric doesn't love being snagged or yanked wet.
Runners who want a genuinely lovely thing to wear on easy runs and casual training, and are happy to pay a brand premium for how it looks and feels.
Anyone after a workhorse technical tee for long, hot or gruelling efforts, or heavy sweaters out for hours rather than an easy one.
The long run
Let's start with the obvious. You're paying two hundred and fifty dollars for a cotton t-shirt, and no amount of laser-cut ventilation holes changes what that sentence sounds like out loud. I knew that going in, and I bought it anyway. Then I bought two more.
What's kept it in rotation isn't the price justifying itself through some hidden technical brilliance, it's simpler than that. This is genuinely a lovely thing to wear. The organic cotton is soft in a way synthetic training fabrics never quite manage, and it's spared me the particular stink that builds up in polyester over a few wears between washes. I've put this through the wash more times than I can count now, worn it, washed it, worn it again, and it's held its shape the entire time. No stretching out at the neck, no losing its drape, nothing that says it was only ever built to look good in a photo.
The women's version is a cropped take on the men's shirt, worth knowing if you're used to a more traditional length, it sits shorter at the hem than a standard tee would. I've ended up with three of these now in different colourways, which probably says more about how much I've enjoyed wearing the first one than anything I could write about the fabric.
The ventilation is real too, not just a design flourish. On cooler mornings, or an easy session where I don't need a fully technical top, the airflow through those holes genuinely does the job. It's not something I'd reach for on a long, hot trail effort, but for what it's built for, easy runs, casual training, the kind of day where the shirt's job is comfort rather than performance, it delivers exactly what it promises.
It's cotton, and cotton has cotton's limits. On anything long or genuinely gruelling, it holds onto sweat and gets heavier as the effort goes on, which is a real consideration if you're someone who sweats heavily or you're out for hours rather than an easy hour. This was never going to be my ultra shirt, and it isn't trying to be one.
The fabric's also more delicate than a technical tee, which makes sense given what it's made from and how it's constructed. I've been careful with it and it's rewarded that care, but I wouldn't recommend snagging it on anything or yanking at it while it's wet, the holed sections aren't built to take that kind of stress.
None of that's really the point, though. You're not buying this shirt to solve a performance problem. You're buying it because it looks genuinely excellent, feels better against your skin than most training kit does, and you're happy to pay the brand premium that comes with both of those things. I am, clearly, three shirts deep. Just don't expect it to be your workhorse.
