An hour on the headland before the car parks fill, watching the singletrack come up out of the dark. Ten frames, no words needed.

Before the light, the boardwalk into the dark.

First colour over the lagoon. Everything still asleep.

The horizon starts to give.

Low tide, the beach to myself.

The path down, and the day arriving.

Close enough now to cast a shadow.

Sunrise over the headland. The moment it clears.

The coast in its first proper light.

The car park was full by the time I came down. It always is. But for one hour the headland was mine, and the light did all the talking.
